I only go to the places which are really popular, sometimes programmes just show places to try their food out even though they are not famous, which is a risky thing to do especially when on holiday.
Lonavala is a must see place and is not too far out, it is around 65km from Pune. It would be a good idea to leave early from Pune so you can miss out on any traffic that there maybe.
I don't really want to go anywhere outside of India, it may seem a lie to many, but I believe that India is a country which is different every so km's. You will see a different way of living, eating and culture and there is no much to see that it would take some time to see all of it.
Tricky to answer, because India is a big country full of places to visit and full of culture and different things. It would be a good idea if you could give an insight to some specific interests.
First on the list I would suggest is the golden triangle where you would visit Delhi (the capital)...
If you go Goa including doing the golden triangle it would be very hectic for a weeks holiday. I would stick to one holiday either Goa or the golden triangle, if you want to do both it would be good if you could extend the duration of your holidays.
