I have never heard of touching the feet of the elderly. Is that a sign of respect? Do people expect this from everyone, including tourists?

As far as I know, AirBnB is a very well known website that can help you find hosts in different countries. I had no idea it had a lot of scammers. Aren't there any reviews on the hosts' profiles?

I would really not suggest that you drive in India. I think that, apart from not being a local and knowing the streets very well, it is not very safe to drive there either.

If I were you, I would avoid withdrawing money from ATM's. Not only because of the charges, but also because I am not sure if it is a safe thing to do. We never know. Just try to carry enough dollar or euro with you and change it whenever you need money.

People are different. Some people are very open to meeting people online and traveling together. I am not really that kind of person though. For me to be able to travel with someone, I need to know them really well.

I would be absolutely terrified of riding an elephant. They are such fascinating but at the same time scary animals. I think you are really brave :)

I am like Amelia. I prefer to do everything by myself. That way, I can find the best offers on hotels and flights. Travel agencies always tend to take a commission on everything they sell.

I agree with Sammie. Most places I have been to always check that you have at least 6 months left on your passport. Just renew it to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your input, guys. I think it will be worth it to delay my trip in order to save a bit more money to be able to afford a hotel. I would rather feel safe than worry about money.

I haven't been to the Himalayas, but I did climb Mount Kinabalu in Borneo and believe me, it is such an amazing feeling! I can't wait to visit the Himalayas even if I don't climb to the top :)
