I will be travelling on my own, do you think it is a good idea to travel at night?

I need to know what the best route from Pathankot to Srinagar would be. I would be on my bike and would be travelling on 20th August. It would be good if information about road conditions and traffic would also be provided. Is the Jammu to Udhampur bypass a good route?
