How Do I Choose A Beach Hotel?

For me the number one factor that I would consider is the distance from the hotel to the beach. Is it walking distance? I would probably go for the one that is nearest to the beach. Luxury is also important to me, so I would choose the best one that is nearest the beach.

Cruises Vs. Hotels - Or Both?

I've been on both and I think that hotels trump cruises every time. A cruise is only exciting for the first few days, and then everything tends to become routine. ONce you've been everywhere and seen everything and experienced what they have to offer on board, then you start to yearn for the...

Provision For Leaving The Cruise Midway?

There are obviously the usual provisions for when there is some kind of emergency on the cruise ship like a medical emergency where the patient has to be air lifted off the cruise. Other than that, I don't know if there is a way for getting off in a non-medical emergency situation, but a quick...

What Happens If A Cruise Is Canceled?

I think everyone gets compensated or they get a new date. Even if it's an act of God then the companies have insurance. It would never fall upon the traveler to cough up when a cruise is cancelled. I would do my research before booking,, though. These are all just speculations.

    Drone Cameras

I think you should make an effort to find out before you go if it's allowed or not, rather than taking your drone along only to have to leave it in your hotel room, which would be very frustrating. I just got my first camera drone and I know just how exciting it can be to do a bit of...

    Mosquitoes?

I'd advise you to invest in the best quality mosquito repellent that you can afford, and make sure to pack lots of it. The clothes can protect you up to a certain point, but even when you cover yourself up properly you still leave your face and neck vulnerable. So repellent is your best bet.

When is the best time of year to visit?

Every one that I've asked seems to think that the best time to visit India is March. Is that really the case? I think that any time is good depending on what your agenda or plan it. Some people like the sunshine and hot weather, while others prefer the snow and ice. It's a matter of personal...

    Cultural Expectations?

It never ceases to amaze me how one gesture can mean something good in one culture and then mean something rude or even illegal in another. I guess people in India are very understanding when it comes to tourists and travelers who may inadvertently cause offence. I think it's a good idea to have...

    Gay Couple Visiting India

The more urban areas are a little more accepting of the gay lifestyle as long as you stay away from kissing and holding each other in public. The people in the less urban areas are not as accepting and I think the advice that you got about staying in the more urbanized areas is really good and...

    Traveling light--are there laundromats?

I have the same thoughts. The hotel you stay in should be able to do your laundry for you, but Rootle is right and you should check with them in advance, just in case. I'm surprised to hear that there are no laundromats in India. I didn't think about this before because our hotel did all of our...

    Planning A Trip To Goa!

I think you're right to now let yourself get your expectations too high. Goa is great, but maybe not the greatest destination in India. And thank you for the tip about North and South Goa. A lot of people have made Goa out to be a hive of activity with non-stop beach parties and live casinos...

What is the most amazing and unique item you bought in India?

Whenever people travel, there is always that one item that you pick up that is so wonderful and unique. Every time you look at it it brings back all those wonderful memories of your trip. For me it's the genuine traditional sari that I got on my last trip to India. It's beautiful and so...

    Understanding Camping In India

With the climate and weather in India and the mosquitoes that they bring, I would assume that camping would be the last thing on anyone's mind when traveling there. I personally would not even consider it, especially since there aren't even that many official camping sites in the country.

    Public Transportation

The public transportation system in India is not as complicated as people might think. A lot of people there speak passable English, and it is not very hard to communicate and so when it comes to getting public transport, you have a wide variety of choices, from the rick shaws all the way to the...
