Whenever people travel, there is always that one item that you pick up that is so wonderful and unique. Every time you look at it it brings back all those wonderful memories of your trip. For me it's the genuine traditional sari that I got on my last trip to India. It's beautiful and so luxurious. What item did you buy that brings those feelings back for you?
For me it was a set of dolls that contains six dolls made of china and the smallest doll goes inside the bigger one and that one goes into the bigger one until all dolls fit into the biggest one. It's really beautiful when you display them all side by side. My daughter loves this set. I'm not too sure if it has any cultural or traditional importance or it was just a novelty item that someone was selling, but they are wonderful to have anyway.
I have not gone to India yet unfortunately. Hopefully, that will change very soon! My mother went in her younger years. She brought back a beautifully ornate elephant ashtray that I have coveted ever since I first saw it as a child. Then ignorant, of course, of it's purpose, but enamored of it on aesthetic grounds.
