Hotel recommendation outside Jaisalmer Fort

A group of us are planning a trip to Jaisalmer and would like to stay in a hotel which is located outside the fort. Our group consists of young teens to elderly aged around 65 years, so the hotel location should be within walking distance to the local shopping places and the fort itself.

We would prefer the hotel budget to be mid range say around Rs1500-Rs2000 per night.
 
There are quite a few hotel options which are close by to the fort. I can not say exactly how far the shops are, but it is either by the fort or by the shops. The hotels which are near the fort are:

Sagar Guest House - rooms starting at Rs2000
Hotel Sky Plaza - rooms starting from Rs2500 (slightly over the budget)
Hotel Marina Mahal - rooms starting from Rs1700
Mahadev Palace - rooms starting from Rs2500

There are other hotels but there tariffs are higher than what you want, if you are looking for a really good hotel within your budget then I would suggest you look for a hotel slighty further away from the fort.

Hotels within Rs. 1,500
  • Hotel Shahi Palace. Located just outside the fort, about a 10-minute walk, this is one of the nearest hotels you can find. Their Standard AC Room is at Rs. 1,500 per night. You can opt for a Standard Non-AC Room which is at Rs. 700 per night as well. WiFi is also available in all their rooms. They also offer camel safari excursions for their guests.   • Mystic Jaisalmer Hotel. This one is around a 14-minute walk from the fort. You can choose from three different rooms although the cheapest one is at Rs. 1,400 per night.   • Hotel Jeet Mahal. This is another hotel close to the fort, a few minutes of walking away as well as to other markets and destinations.
