I am in Puri for a short while and wish to make a trip to the Nandankanan Zoo. I need to know: How far the zoo is from Puri? What would be the best mode of transport?
it wont take more than 2 hours, get urself a cab/taxi...it would be better if u visit KONARK as well.. both the places can be easily covered in a single trip!

Hello and welcome to the forum! The Nandankanan Zoological Park is a zoo and a botanical garden located in Bhubaneswar in Odisha. It is the home to about 1,660 species of animals. This zoo has the lowest death rates when it comes to their animals, proving that the care they give to them are of the highest quality. The endangered Asiatic Lion can be found here along with other animals. There's also an Orchid House here with over 130 species of the flower. The Nandankanan Zoo is about 80 kms from Puri. It can take you 2 hours at the most to reach the zoo. Here are your transportation options: 1. Train - The nearest railway station to the zoo is the Barang Railway Station at about 1 km away. Some train options for this route are: Sri-Jaganath Express Train No. 18410 - It leaves at 22:30 and arrives at 00:14. This train runs everyday from Monday to Sunday. Puri-Bhadrak Special Train No. 08918 - It leaves at 18:35 and arrives at 20:50. This train runs during Wednesday and Thursday. Your next option for trains would be via the Bhubaneswar Railway Station. This is about 18 kms away from the zoo. Some schedules are: Puri Gandhidham Weekly SF Express Train No. 12994 - It leaves at 19:45 and arrives at 21:05. It only runs every Monday. Puri Sambalpur Intercity Express Train No. 1830 - It leaves at 15:35 and arrives at 16:55. It runs everyday from Monday to Sunday. Fares vary but the cheapest is at Rs. 120 per person for a lower class seat. From the railway station, you can ride a cab to take you to the zoo.
