My family are I are going to Bangkok for a holiday, we have our itinerary sorted out and are left with about 3 days which we don't really have anything planned for.

We did think of maybe seeing some more places in Bangkok, but there was nothing else which interested us, so we are considering going to Phuket and we would like to know how to reach Phuket from Bangkok?

There are three ways that you can reach Phuket from Bangkok, by bus, train or flight.

    Bangkok to Phuket by bus

Travelling by bus is the cheapest way to travel from Bangkok to Phuket. Both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses are available and you can get either a day bus or an overnight bus. Cost of the bus tickets would vary between 800 Baht - 1300 Baht depending on which type of bus you choose.
The time that it would take for you to reach Phuket from Bangkok is about 12-14 hours.

    Bangkok to Phuket by train
Getting a train from Bangkok to Phuket is another cheap way of transport. Unlike getting a bus which takes you directly to Phuket, when taking a train from Bangkok you need to change at Surat Thani train station and then take a bus from there towards Bangkok. The distance from Surat Thani to Phuket is around 4 hours. The total time to travel from Bangkok to Phuket by the first train and then by bus is 13-14 hours. It is advised that you pre-book your train tickets.

    Bangkok to Phuket by flight
Getting a flight from Bangkok to Phuket is one of the quickest and easiest ways of getting there but the most expensive. The time to reach Phuket from Bangkok is only one hour. There are daily flights going at different times of the day from Bangkok to Phuket.
