Has anyone done any ski trips in India? I do know that from January to March there are some ski hills open and wondered where the best place to ski would be? Which ski area offers the best views from the top and the most runs for your money?

I would suggest Gulmarg and Sonmarg if all you want to do is skiing. Both these places have some great views of the Himalayan mountain ranges and beautiful valleys.

    Hello!

Skiing during the winter season is definitely popular in India. Locals and tourists avail special packages by agencies to take advantage of this season. However, you can also opt to go without these agencies, provided you have the equipment, gear and expertise in skiing. Here's a few skiing places in India that you might enjoy:

    Kashmir

    • Gulmarg. This is probably one of the most popular skiing destinations in India. It offers pristine and virgin slopes, which are perfect for skiing and even snowboarding. It is even considered the seventh best skiing destination in Asia.
    • Pahalgam. Aside from skiing, other winter sports are popular here. You can choose from snowboarding, whitewater rafting and paragliding. This is definitely the place for thrill seekers.

    Himachal Pradesh

    • Rohtang. This one's located in Manali, which we all know has majestic views of the mountains and valleys. But lately, Rohtang has been popular for winter sports like skiing and paragliding as well.
    • Solang Valley. Again, located near Manali, this is another popular skiing destination. But what makes it different is that it has an annual ski festival in which tourists all around the world are invited.
    Sikkim
    • Phuni Valley. Located 18 kms from Lachung, Phuni Valley is starting to gain visitors all around the world. It's relatively new in the game but that doesn't mean it doesn't have anything to offer.
    Uttarakhand
    • Auli. Located 250 kms away from Rishikesh, some consider this heaven on Earth. Apart from the pure white snow, the surrounding areas are generally clean and virgin.
I hope this helps you! Have fun skiing!
