I haven't heard many people talk about Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. I know that it is the headquarters of the Pakistan army and the government as well. But other than its political credentials are there any places worth visiting in Islamabad?
How is it being a tourist in Pakistan? I mean the world knows that the local population is some areas may not be the friendliest and can be against a tourist visiting their areas. Has anyone here been to Pakistan ever and found it to be a good place to visit?
Pakistan has quite a few mountainous regions and I was wondering whether there are any facilities for climbers. Pakistan's highest peak K2 is 8611 meters high as compared to Mount Everest which is 8848 meters high. So I guess there must be some places where mountaineers can go for a trip.
I hope that is not the case in hotels where I would be using the wifi anyway. My room tariff includes wifi facility and I am glad for that. It seems to be unsafe in internet cafes outside so I will not be using them.
There are various places from where you can view Mount Everest. In fact you can get a view from any high altitude hill station in the foothills of the Himalayas. There is a spot in Darjeeling also from where you can see it.
There are trekking spots in the Aravali hills near Delhi but if you are a serious trekker you would need to head for the Himalayas. But if you are short of time you can try the ones near Delhi.
They are very safe and I travel in them regularly. I go from Delhi to Mumbai very often and use the overnight trains which are the fastest and most convenient. When you sleep most of the journey gets covered in the train.
It will take you 2 days. A half day to go to Corbett and then a half or a day to spend some time there. You will need about 6 hours to come back to Delhi. Doing it in a day is not possible at all.
I find this thread really interesting and I am going to try a new kind of photography. I like the idea of taking macro shots and will see whether I can take pictures of small things that I keep seeing all the time.
It seems that many people have been able to escape with their lives because of using the black masks. There are tigers in other parts of the world too and this information can be sent out to people who live in those areas and want to save themselves form tigers.
I agree. Silent Valley is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The climate is very pleasant throughout the year with the highest being about 73 degrees Fahrenheit and lowest about 64 degrees. I have been there twice and loved it each time.
I use the Expedia app and find it very handy with useful information especially regarding hotels and room availability. Another good app is Hipmunk that also gives the availability of rented accommodation that can save you a lot of money.
I find this forum to be a treasure house of information for all tourism related purposes. You can also browse the Indian Tourism website for more information on places for sightseeing or Tripadvisor for any hotel related information.
There is a lot of traffic and riding a bike in the city might not be a good idea. You can try them outside cities in the countryside though, if you are very keen to ride a bicycle. Besides, there are no cycle tracks as in some countries in Europe.
If you are traveling through a wooded area there are always chances that you might come across some wild animal at any time. This is because animals migrate from one area to the other depending upon the season.
