I have never traveled outside of the U.S. before. I don't currently have a passport or any kind of travel documents. How long will I need to get all of these documents squared away?

I have this question also, and would like to find a list of documents that are needed to apply for a passport. I haven't traveled outside of the U.S. either, and I'm praying the process for getting the required travel documents isn't too taxing. I would also like to know the exact cost of obtaining a passport, if there is costs associated with it at all.

  3. To get your passport, I believe you just need two forms of ID, probably one should be a photo ID. However, don't quote me on this as it was about 10 years ago that I first got my passport. It's not a hard process to obtain the passport itself, and a standard routine passport will take around 6 weeks, according to the dot gov Website. It takes longer to get your Visa, however, and that is what will delay your paperwork for travel. Some Visas take longer than others. I think that the Visa I required for Ukraine took upwards of 3 months. Again, this was many years back now, so it could take more or less time.

For further information about applying for a passport, you can ask at most local Post Office branches or visit the USPS Website:
