While in India on holidays where can an NRI (non-resident Indian) go in case of a medical need or emergency. I have only heard stories from news that there are iffy doctors in India so I don't want to end up getting worse than I already maybe. I am not ill or anything, but it is just a precaution to take in case something does happen.

Is private better or government hospital/doctor better?

Is there any specific hospital I should go to if in case I or any member of my family fall ill?

Is medication and treatment expensive in India?

Would I get charged extra for being a non-Indian resident?

If you are anywhere near the Capital Appolo is a very good hospital. Fortis hospitals are also considered good.
Private hospitals is the way to go but if you ask me where are the best doctors in India I would say Safdarjung hospital and AIIMS at Delhi and they are both government run and services are free.
