Toy Train Ride - The Matheran Hill Railway is a narrow gauge heritage railway connecting Neral to Matheran. The journey is around 21 kms long and can take 2 hours & 20 minutes to cover. There are about 281 zigzag turns in the journey that makes for a thrilling and adventurous ride. During the monsoon season, from June to September, only one train runs in this journey though. Although the ride can be a long one, it's definitely worth it especially as you get to witness the views of the valleys from the train. It's a very romantic journey as well for the couples. 2. Horse Riding - In Dasturi Naka, about three kilometres from Matheran Railway Station, there are many trained horses that tourists can ride. Riding them could be for different purposes like transportation of luggage or for fun. You can choose between different horses and even smaller ones for kids. There are also courses for professional riding of horses. 3. Trekking - For the more adventurous couples, do try trekking in Matheran. For starters, there are numerous points in here that are easy and moderate in terms of difficulty. One of which is One Tree Hill, in which the trek starts at Ambewadi near Karjat. Its unique feature is that the hill only has one tree in it. The trek is fairly moderate and suitable for the physically fit individuals. These are really great ideas to add to my list of activities that we could possibly do while in India. Toy train riding, horse riding and trekking all seem like really fun activities for an intimate couple. Of course there are a lot more activities that you can find just by searching through google or speaking to your travel consultant to help find you something that is more suited to you and your partners needs.
