What places to see along the Mumbai-Ajmer route NH8?

A group of us friends will be travelling on the NH8 which is the Mumbai - Ajmer highway by car. It is a long distance and we will pass many places. We need some indication to which places we should stop over at, so that we wont miss the chance to see any popular tourist attractions or places.

You will pass through Vapi and Silvasa, where the Daman Ganga is, and this place is full culture and heritage. After this you will go past Gujarat where you can visit Ahmedabad, then the next stop is Rajasthan where you can visit many places like Jodhpur, Udaipur etc. From there you can go towards Ajmer and if you wish go further to Jaipur.

Mount Abu will also be on the way. It is a nice little lake on top where you could do some boating. You would need to stay over night if you want to see Mount Abu.

Jaipur is not on the way to Ajmer, you would have to drive another 100+ Kms. Road from Ajmer to Jaipur is excellent and Ive never seen too much traffic on that stretch.

Gujarat is a must visit, the place is full of historical places, I would like suggest staying there for at least 2 days, and especially not to miss the Vintage car place.

How many days stay do you recommend for Mount Abu?

Theres not much to do if its a group of friends, may be two days at the most. For a couple its probably ok to stay 4-5 days as walking around the lake area is pretty good and going for a boat ride in the evenings. There are a few bars where you could have a drink or two and walk down to the lake (try not to drown after getting drunk).
