Places To See In Puri

    I am going to Kolkata which is my hometown for one month. During that time I would like to take one week out and take my family to Puri which is a very popular holiday destination.

    As the stay in Puri would be only for one week, I want to make sure that we get to see everything there, so require a list of places to see in Puri.

    Here is a list of the places you can visit in Puri, which you would easily be able to cover in 7 days.

    Jagannath Temple
    This is a very famous temple in Orissa and many devotees come from across India to visit the temple. The temple displays some beautiful architecture and carvings which is a delight to see. The famous Rath Yatra is held here from mid-June to mid-July every year.
    Jagannath Temple is open from 6.30am until 10 pm at night 7 days a week.

    Puri Beach
    In the Eastern part of India, this is one of the most famous beaches, which is why you would find many tourists there. Seeing the sunrise and sunset at the Puri beach is one of the main attractions. Every year in the month of November the Puri beach festival is held.

    Konark Beach
    Konark beach is another famous beach in Puri to be visited, this is more of a quieter beach and if you want some relaxing time then this is the ideal beach to visit.

    Konark Temple (Sun Temple)

    The Konark Temple is a world heritage monument and is just by the Konark beach. There is an entrance fee for the Konark temple which is Rs5 per person for Indian nationals and US $5 for foreign nationals.

    Satapada

    Satapada is an area of seven little islands. The famous point of Satapada is the lake there and the number of different species of fish and dolphins which one can see when visiting the place. During the winter season, you can see a lot of migrated birds.

    Sudarshan Craft Museum
    Sudarshan Craft Museum is just a few km away from Puri beach. Thr museum started back in 1977 and hold a large collection of artwork by Sudarshan Sahoo. When visiting the craft museum you can view work is done in glass, wood, fiberglass and also some fine art paintings. Visitors can also have access to a library and workshop. The craft museum is open from 8 am to 12 pm and then from 2 pm to 8 pm Monday to Friday.
    Entry fee is Rs5 for Indians and Rs50 for foreigners.
