I require the yellow fever vaccination which was due a week ago. I am away from home in Bangalore and need to find out where I can get the yellow fever vaccination in Bangalore from.
Please provide details of the appropriate and trusted hospitals or doctors who can vaccinate me with the yellow fever vaccination.

Hello, @Teji, welcome to the forum!

    Overview

The Yellow Fever Vaccine is an important vaccine for those travellers going to Africa and South America. Though not all countries in these regions require a vaccine for yellow fever, most of the countries here do require them. For example, visitors of countries like Angola, Congo, Kenya, Nigeria and Senegal, all in Africa, require tourists to have a World Health Organisation (WHO) yellow fever vaccine certificate, prior to entering the countries. Why? Because for the past few years, there have been epidemics and outbreaks of yellow fever in these countries, a disease transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, the same carrier of other diseases such as dengue and Zika virus. Thus, it's important to know which region you're visiting and whether a yellow vaccine fever is required here, in order to protect yourself from the disease. Also, as you come back to India, your Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate is a requirement before you can enter the country from any of these African and South American countries.

Where to Get Yellow Fever Vaccine in Bangalore

As mentioned above, you need to go to World Health Organisation (WHO) certified health centres to get your authentic Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate. Thus, you cannot just go to any public health centre or private health centre, you need to make sure that it is certified by both the WHO and also the Indian Government. There are only a few such centres though and even more daunting is that their schedules aren't fixed. In Bangalore, there is only one public health centre and a few private health centres that are WHO and Indian-Government certified.

So these are all the Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres in Bangalore that are known to be certified by WHO and the Indian Government. Out of these three, the most affordable and preferred one is the Public Health Institute. But as you can see, its timings are quite short and it only operates once a week. The other two health centres are privately operated but the costs for their yellow fever vaccines are higher.

The Best Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre in Bangalore
    • Public Health Institute - The Public Health Centre in Bangalore is the most preferred vaccination centre, mainly because it offers subsidised vaccines and the certificate issued here is recognised worldwide. While the contact number is provided above, it's best to reach the health centre during the early morning of a Monday, at least 9:00 am, and schedule an appointment there. Do bring your passport and travel tickets as these are necessary for scheduling an appointment. Once you're given your schedule, take note of it and come back the following Wednesday. On your scheduled vaccination, bring two syringes, although the health centre has syringes but it's best to make sure. After checking your passport number and name in the computer, you would be given a booklet form for the Yellow Vaccine and you'd be ushered to the cashier. Pay the required Rs. 400 and keep the receipt. After vaccinating you, the certificate for the Yellow Vaccine would be released to you as well. Although this is the best centre, the lack of daily schedules can be a big hassle for travellers. But then again, at least you're sure that the certificate given to you would be accepted by immigration personnels.
    • MM International Health Clinic - This one is a private health centre, located in Domlur, in Bangalore. This is actually a well-known private health centre since they administer the Yellow Fever Vaccine to large companies even. You would go through the same process as above although the clinic operates daily except Sundays so you can easily fit a vaccination appointment into your schedule. The clinic also allows for personal delivery of the vaccine in the most convenient place for you, either at your home or even work. You also have the choice of having the vaccine taken from their employees or any other professional health representative you like. Their certificate is approved by the government as well as WHO and can be accepted in major immigration centres. There's a huge downside though as the vaccine costs as much as Rs. 5,000. But if you have little time on your hands, this is a good option as they cater to private individuals easily, unlike with the previous health centre.
    • Manipal Hospital - Last on the list is another private health centre, the Manipal Hospital. The hospital is located in the Leela Palace Road in Kodihalli. Much like the MM International Health Centre, the rate for the vaccine here is roughly the same. The hospital operates daily too, from 9:00 am to 11:30 pm so it's very easy to schedule an appointment. You need to reach the hospital personally though as they don't have personnels that can reach to you and administer the vaccine personally.
    Conclusion

So there you go, a list of Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres in Bangalore. As much as possible, the first option, the Public Health Institute is your best choice as the certificate issued here is recognised by WHO and the Indian Government. If this centre isn't available, you can choose the other two private health centres but their rates are higher than the former.

    I hope this helps you.:)
