Important Things To Talk About Before Making Plans

How about these: Sleep schedule - wake up early or stay out late? Meals - 3 squares a day, or snack and graze? Veggie, vegan, carnivore? I know two people who went to Italy as best friends and came back not speaking to each other because of their sleeping and eating schedules.

    Surprising Traditions

I love learning about the customs of people in each new country that I visit. In some countries, I’ve found that shops are always closed on Sundays, in others, women can’t go into bars. It’s always something surprising! For anyone who has visited India, what was the most surprising custom or...

    National Park Management

I have read about so many of India’s beautiful national parks! Is there a government department in charge of managing them all? Are there national park rangers assigned to patrol and protect each of the parks?

Fun At The 'smoking Rocks' - A Hogenakkal Travelogue

I really like your travelogues - very funny and descriptive! I had to see what "smoking rocks" was all about - it must be that the water sprays up and looks like smoke? This place looks like a great trip for a hot day.

    Mirik Town

The best part of oranges (after the fruit) is the flowers. If you can go there when the trees are in bloom, the scent is overwhelmingly wonderful.

    Farming

I am grateful for these suggestions. I would like to get some perspective on both the old and new ways of farming in India, and these places should cover it all.

    Driving In India

I would be terrified to drive. One of the other threads talks about how the traffic moves very fast and people don't all follow the same rules. Too stressful for a vacation.

    Etiquette For Bargaining Or Haggling

This is good to know. I would have expected bargaining in open markets, but not so much in shops. I think I will observe others before I try any haggling in the shops.

    Mirik Town

From the descriptions, this sounds like a perfect travel destination. A lake, bridge, beautiful monastery, and vast orchards, all add up to a picture-perfect vacation.

    Unmarried Couples

I was going to ask the same question, so I'm glad we have an answer. I was actually more worried about upsetting the feelings of the Indian people, if they had strict standards of some sort.

Are There Any Types Of Snakes, Insects, Or Animals To Watch Out For?

Good thinking. I usually don't ask until I'm on the trail and I see something coming at me. I know there are plenty of reptiles in India, but I don't know which ones bite, so that would definitely be a good thing to find out ahead of time.

    History Of Agriculture

I read that the "Green Revolution" was a mixed blessing in that it brought more food to India but also eventually put many farmers out of business. Is there a museum or a place for people to learn about the history of India's agriculture?

    Most Endangered Animals

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of endangered animals in India, and if possible I would like to see some of them in the wild. Are there any tours or safaris that specialize in viewing rare and endangered species?

    Things to do in Ziro

High altitude fish is something I have not heard of. I would love to find out more about this. Is it a single kind of fish or are there many different types bred there?

Top 10 Wildlife Sanctuaries In India

It's nice to see that the endangered Bengal Tiger can still be seen in several of these parks. I hope that the population of these beautiful animals will keep increasing.
