I am trying to find a cab service in Hyderabad, and I have found two cab companies both which are charging more than Rs10 per km. Some time ago I saw an ad for Rs8 per km, but I don't recall which cab service it was.

Even if it isn't Rs8 per km, I would still like to find out what the cheapest cab service in Hyderabad is?

Hello, @Daxita! Welcome to the forum.

    Overview

Hyderabad has a very reliable transportation system, ranging from buses, light rail trains, autos and of course, cabs. There are plenty of options for cabs and even the big names in the industry has found their place in the City of Pearls. Smaller cab companies are also found in the city and they are also quite reliable, although their rates are on the higher side. Cabs are the most convenient way of getting from one point to another but we can't deny that they also have the highest tariffs, as compared to buses, trains or autos. In this guide, we would highlight the cheapest cab services around Hyderabad so that you would have an idea of which cabs provide reliable services without emptying your pockets.

    Cheapest Cab Services in Hyderabad

The two cheapest cab services in Hyderabad are the biggest names in the cab industry too, namely, Ola Cabs and Uber. There are other cab companies too but they have higher rates ranging from Rs. 10 to Rs. 15. Below, their different base rates, along with their per kilometre rates and the different packages they offer would be discussed.

    1. Ola Cabs - Founded in 2010 in Mumbai, Ola Cabs is an Indian cab company, which has emerged as the most successful of its kind in the country. It is the most extensive cab company in the country, even surpassing the fleet number of Uber, a global company. It has expanded into many cities thereafter, including Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.

    Base FareRs. 80 (First 4 Kilometres)Rs. 35Rs. 100 (First 4 Kilometres)Rs. 150 (First 5 Kilometres)
    Per Kilometre ChargeRs. 8 (Until 15 Kilometres)Rs. 14 (After 15 Kilometres)Rs. 6 (Until 15 Kilometres) & Rs. 12 (After 15 Kilometres)Rs. 10Rs. 18
    Per Minute ChargeRs. 1Rs. 1Rs. 1Rs. 2
    Cancellation FeeRs. 50Rs. 50Rs. 75Rs. 100
This table highlights the fare rates of Ola Cabs, which has the cheapest per kilometre rate in Hyderabad. As you can see, there are four types of cabs that the company has, namely: the Mini, the Micro, the Prime Sedan and the Prime SUV. Out of these four types, the cheapest cab is the Micro. Its base fare is at Rs. 35 only. The rate per kilometre is at Rs. 6, that is until the 15th kilometre. Thereafter, the rate per kilometre increases to Rs. 12. If you go by the minute, their rate is at Rs. 1 per minute. However, keep in mind that during peak hours, Ola Cabs has surge pricing so the actual fare rates might be higher.

    2. Uber - Uber is known all over the world, expanding to many countries in Asia already. It was founded in the USA though in 2009 and is known as the precursor of all online cab companies. In India though, Uber isn't that extensive yet, only being able to expand to a few metro cities, which includes Hyderabad.

    Base FareRs. 25Rs. 45Rs. 120
    Per Kilometre ChargeRs. 7Rs. 9Rs. 20
    Per Minute ChargeRs. 1.5Rs. 1.5Rs. 2.5
    Cancellation FeeRs. 50Rs. 80Rs. 100
This table highlights the fare rates of Uber which has fairly good fare rates in Hyderabad too. Their fleet can be divided into three, namely: UberGo, UberX and UberSUV. The cheapest is the UberGo with a base fare of Rs. 25 only. The per kilometre charge is at Rs. 7 and the per minute charge is at Rs. 1.5. Just like Ola Cabs though, Uber has surge pricing too, so if you use their services during peak times, you might have to pay double to triple of the actual fare rate. Surge pricing occurs during rush hours, rainy days or just every time the need for taxis increases.

    3. Sky City Cabs - This cab company, Sky City Cabs, might not be as big as Ola Cabs or Uber but they are one of the most well-known companies located in Hyderabad itself. They provide pick-up and drop-off services around the city of Hyderabad. Though their rates are not the lowest, they do have packages that can help you save some money, especially if you have a fixed route.

This table highlights the fare rates of Sky City Cabs, with their packages, per extra kilometre charge and per extra hour charge. They have three types of cabs, namely, the Indica, the Indigo/Verito and the Xylo/Innova. Out of these three, the Indica is the cheapest type. Their 1-hour package or up to 15 kilometres costs Rs. 240 for the Indica. Their 2-hour package or up to 20 kilometres costs Rs. 340 for the Indica. From the table, you can see the other rates depending on how long your journey is. If ever you exceed a kilometre, the extra charge is at Rs. 10 per kilometre. If you exceed by an hour, the extra charge is at Rs. 60 per hour. Unlike Ola Cabs and Uber, Sky City Cabs don't have surge pricing, plus they also have packages for those reaching or going to the airport.

    4. Red Cabs - Red Cabs is another cab company that can only be found in Hyderabad. They provide intercity and intracity cab services for tourists or locals of Hyderabad. Just like the former, they have fixed packages that can help you save some money. Their 1-hour package or up to 15 kilometres costs Rs. 240 for the Indica. Their 2-hour package or up to 20 kilometres costs Rs. 340 for the Indica. If you exceed a kilometre, the extra charge is at Rs. 10 per kilometre. However, if the journey if beyond 10 hours already, you need to pay per extra hour incurred and that would be at Rs. 80 per hour.

    5. Yellow Taxi Hyderabad - Next is the Yellow Taxi Hyderabad, another locally based cab company. This is one of the oldest cab companies in the city. They have a very efficient system wherein passenger details are entered into a database so the moment you book another cab from them, your details would be already in the system. Good luck and I hope this helps!
