Getting a bus or car from Srinagar to Leh

A group of 10 of us are currently in Srinagar and want to go to Leh, but we are having problems with transport. We need a suitable mode of transport either a bus or car which would be suitable for 10 people. Can someone please help with the bus or car booking and also suggest which would be a better option.

Going by car is the best way to do it because you get to stop wherever you want and take loads of pictures but if you are not into that then go for a bus ticket which can be purchased from official J&K transport website.

You can get a tempo traveler from Srinagar to Leh which would be the best option. Sometimes the Srinagar to Leh highway is closed so make sure of the status before you leave.

It would really depend on the frequency of the buses, if they are regular then you can easily get a bus if not then your own transport would be better. It would be best to get the booking done from the hotel you will be staying at.

I would highly recommend you get a car because the road from Srinagar to Leh has some amazing views which are not to be missed, sometimes if you have time it is good to stop at some spots just to relax and just simply gaze at the natural beauty.

If you can find out the timings for the buses in Srinagar then that's good if not then just hire a taxi, cost wise bus would be cheaper and flexibility wise a taxi would be better, so it depends on your preference.

If you have no interest in the views on the way then go in a bus, but if your someone like me who wants to just stare at the views then you need to take your own vehicle which you can stop whenever you wish, also a stopover in Kargil is a must.

Information for bus services can easily be found out from hotels and tour operators in the area, they would be able to tell the exact timings, especially if there are any changes.
