I need to reach Pune from Mumbai, and I think the best and affordable way for this journey would be by bus. The buses which leave from Mumbai airport are good, and I would like to know if there are any Mumbai Airport to Pune bus services.

If yes, please provide the timings and the kind of bus for the journey?

    Hello!

Unfortunately, there are no direct buses operating from Mumbai Airport to Pune. You'll have to go to the Mumbai Bus Station or the Dadar Bus Stand to access these buses going to Pune. The distance between the Dadar Bus Stand and the airport is about 12 kms. You'll have to ride a taxi to get to the bus station.

You can also choose the other stations which are the Shivneri Bus Station and the Pune Asiad Bus Station. Or maybe ride the private buses which again, have different boarding points.

From the Dadar Bus Stand, you'll find MSRTC Buses. Fare varies between Rs. 230 to Rs. 240. Here are the bus timings from the Dadar Bus Stand in Mumbai going to Pune (via Aundh):

    5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 7:40, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 13:00, 13:30, 14:00, 14:30, 15:00, 15:30, 16:00, 16:30, 17:00, 17:30, 18:00, 18:30, 19:00, 19:30, 20:00, 20:30, 21:00, 21:30, 22:00, 23:00, 00:00.

The drop-off point is at Pune Station. These are ordinary state buses as well.

Here's some private buses operating from Mumbai to Pune:
    • Orange Tours Travels (Volvo AC, Semi-sleeper). Departs at Borival West, Borivali East, Kandivali East, Goregaon and Jogeshwari at 7:00 pm. Arrives at 10:15 pm in Pune. Fare is at Rs. 300.
    • National Travels (Volvo AC, Seater). Departs at Mohammad Ali Road, Mumbai Central, Vashi and Chembur at 2:30 pm. Arrives at 6:30 pm in Pune. Fare is at Rs. 300.
    • Purple Metrolink (Volvo AC, Seater). Departs at Gokul Hotel Bri West, Malad East and Kandivali East at 7:00 am. Arrives at 11:00 am in Pune. Fare is at Rs. 400.
    I hope this helps!

    Hi Vishwa

There are no direct buses from Mumbai Airport to Pune. You have to go to the Mumbai Bus Station or Dadar Bus Station to get the bus for Pune. From Dadar bus station to pune will take 3.30 hours journey. Also price starts from 280 rs for non AC in private operators like Neeta travels.

I saw some images on the news during a story about public transportation in India. The trains and buses look horribly crowded! Is this true for all bus routes throughout the country or only in the densely populated urban centers?
