Kerala, known as the God's own country, has much to offer tourists who love nature. There is not a single property in Kerala that does not have coconut trees.

Kerala has almost one hundred percent literacy rate

The greatest attraction in Kerala is its backwaters made up of lagoons and lakes connected by canals some natural and some manmade.

No tourist will return without experiencing a stay in those houseboats that float in the backwaters. There are several agents there who will help the tourists to fulfil their dreams.

The Backwaters of Kerala is indeed a very popular holiday destination, for some guidance about the backwaters, here is a list of the top 5 backwater destinations to stay at on your trip to Kerala:

    Alleppey (also known as Alappuzha)
    Kollam
    Kumarakom
    Kuttanad
    Kasaragod
    Kottayam

There are also backwater tours packages which are available which can last from 3 - 5 days.

For some more information on Kerala houseboats, you can read the Kerala Backwaters boat tour thread.
