Devalsari To Nag Tibba (short Route)

Hi all,

There is a short (and steep) route to Nag Tibba from Oothad. We took this route the last time we went there and made great progress till we reached an abandoned cow shelter about half an hour after the small inhabited farm-hut.

We kind of lost our way after this point and tried 2-3 narrow paths that seemed to lead to dead ends. We are planning a 'revenge' summit of sorts next weekend and I was wondering if I could get some answers via this travel forum.

Has anyone gone up via this path? Do you know which path to take from this junction?

The Nag Tibba Peak or Serpent's Peak is definitely one of the most challenging but worth it trails outside of Delhi. It has the highest peak in the lower Himalayas region but it is relatively unknown to many people. You must conquer about 10,000 feet and make your way through the snowy mountains. But once you have reached its peak, you will get to see the amazing views of the Gangotri Peak, Doon Valley, Chanabang and of course, the Bandarpoonch Peak.

To fully conquer the mountains though, you would need to hire a guide with you. From your past experience, you lost your way because you didn't know the trails well. The Nag Tibba Peak is located 57 kms away from Mussoorie in the Garhwal Himalayas.

The first route is from Devalsari Village, about 13 kms away from Nag Tibba. To reach Devalsari, you can opt for a jeep or a shared taxi. You can also take a jeep that's going to Tehri Road and get off at Sukholi. From there, get a jeep going to Thatyur.

The second route is from Panthwari Village, about 8 kms away from Nag Tibba. It's considered the shortest route to reach Nag Tibba, but it can be complicated to you need a guide to use this route. From Mussoorie, you need to take the road going to Kempty, then cross the Yamuna Bridge via Purola. Once you've reached Nainbagh, just turn right to the Nainbagh Road and from there, Panthwari Village is just 12 kms away. Your guide can then help you reach the Nag Tibba Peak once you are able to get to the village.
