My sister and I have developed a keen interest in traveling and have traveled a couple of nearby places and now wish to go to Arunachal Pradesh.
As much as we both like traveling we like traveling the fun way too, so getting a flight to somewhere would be just boring for us.

Please suggest how to go to Arunachal Pradesh by either train or road from Delhi?

Its always best to travel the fun way, it just makes the trip more adventurous and you actually get to see more too.

The nearest railway station to Arunachal Pradesh is Naharlagun Railway Station. Trains from major Indian cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Guwahati are available to this station. From Naharlagun Railway Station, you can take a taxi or bus to reach Arunachal Pradesh.

Arunachal Pradesh is well connected by road with other parts of India. You will be able to get a bus or a taxi from major Indian cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Guwahati to reach Arunachal Pradesh. When traveling from cities far away, it is most likely that you would have to change buses at some point.
Just for information from Delhi by road, it would take over 35 hours for the journey by train it would take just around 35 hours and a flight would not be more than 10 hours including layover.

Traveling to Arunachal Pradesh from Delhi by train or road can be an adventurous journey, allowing you to witness the diverse landscapes of India. Please note that Arunachal Pradesh may have certain entry permit requirements for tourists, so it's advisable to check and obtain the necessary permits before your trip. Here's a general guide on how you can plan your journey:

    By Train and Road:
    1. Train Journey to Guwahati:
      • Start by taking a train from Delhi to Guwahati, which is a major city in Assam. Several trains connect Delhi to Guwahati, and the journey usually takes around 30-40 hours.
    2. Guwahati to Itanagar by Road:
      • Once you reach Guwahati, you can travel to Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, by road. Itanagar is approximately 370 kilometers from Guwahati. You can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Itanagar. The journey may take around 10-12 hours, depending on road conditions.
    3. Scenic Road Trip:
      • The road journey from Guwahati to Itanagar offers picturesque views of the Assam hills and the Brahmaputra River. You'll pass through lush green landscapes and experience the cultural diversity of the region.
    4. Alternative Route via Tezpur:
      • Another option is to take a train to Tezpur, which is closer to Arunachal Pradesh, and then proceed to Itanagar by road. This might reduce your road journey time.
    By Road Only:
    1. Delhi to Itanagar by Road:
      • If you prefer an entire road journey, you can hire a cab or drive from Delhi to Itanagar. The distance is approximately 1,800 kilometers, and the journey may take around 40-50 hours, depending on the route and road conditions.
    2. Choose the Route Wisely:
      • You can take the route through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam. Alternatively, you may explore other routes based on your preferences and the current road conditions.
    3. Stay En Route:
      • Consider breaking your journey into multiple days, staying overnight in interesting places along the way. This will allow you to explore different regions and make the trip more enjoyable.
    4. Ensure Vehicle Readiness:
      • If you're driving, ensure that your vehicle is in good condition for a long road trip. Carry essential documents, tools, and supplies for the journey.
Remember to check for any travel advisories, road conditions, and permits required for entering Arunachal Pradesh. Additionally, consider the time of the year, as weather conditions in the region can vary. It's recommended to plan your trip well in advance and have a flexible itinerary to accommodate any unexpected situations.
