I need to get my flight to Vancouver from IGI T3 and will be coming from Punjab on the Shatabdi train. This will be the first time I will be coming by train to Delhi airport and need some help with the time between arriving at the railway station to the boarding time at the airport.

I would like to know how far the New Delhi train station is from IGI airport?

What would be the best and most convenient way to reach the airport from the railway station?

IGI T3 is about 15 KM from New Delhi railway station but it can some times take more than an hour to get there due to traffic depending upon the time of the day you travel. If it is after 11PM it would take less than half an hour.

You can get a taxi from outside the station, there are prepaid options as well as radio taxi. It costs a little more for radio taxi but those are air-conditioned and pre-paid booth taxis are not.

    Welcome to the forum!

The New Delhi Railway Station is about 15.8 kms away from the Indira Ghandi International Airport. If you drive it, it can take you about 16 minutes to reach airport.

Since you would need to arrive on time for your departure, the best transportation mode you can take is the taxi. It can cost up to Rs 600 if you take a taxi. The good thing is that it's fast, convenient and reliable. You can even opt for Uber, if you have the app. This way, the taxi driver can pick you up directly from the Railway Station. Otherwise, there are lots of taxis just outside the station as well.

    I hope this helps!

Best way to get to Delhi airport Terminal 3 from New Delhi railway station would be taking the Metro train which will take you up to Terminal 3 station. Departures are less than two mins walk from the IGI T3 metro station.

The distance between New Delhi Railway Station and Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi is approximately 18 kilometers. To travel from New Delhi Railway Station to IGI Airport, you have several convenient transportation options:

    1. Taxi or Ride-Sharing Services: Taking a taxi or a ride-sharing service like Uber or Ola is one of the most convenient and time-efficient ways to travel between the railway station and the airport. The journey typically takes around 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

    2. Airport Express Metro: The Delhi Airport Metro Express is a dedicated metro line that connects the New Delhi Railway Station to IGI Airport. It's a fast and convenient option. You can board the Airport Express Line from the New Delhi Railway Station, and it will take you directly to the airport. The travel time is around 20-25 minutes.

    3. Bus Service: Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) also operates an air-conditioned bus service called the Airport Express, which connects various parts of Delhi, including New Delhi Railway Station, to the airport. The travel time may vary based on the traffic.

    4. Auto-Rickshaw: Auto-rickshaws are another option for reaching the airport, although they may not be as comfortable as taxis or the metro. Ensure that the driver uses a meter or agrees on a fare before starting the journey.
When planning your journey from New Delhi Railway Station to IGI Airport, it's advisable to factor in some extra time for potential traffic delays, especially during peak hours. It's also a good idea to check the latest transportation options and schedules based on your arrival time at New Delhi Railway Station.

In most cases, taking a taxi or the Airport Express Metro is a reliable and convenient way to get from the railway station to the airport with ease, ensuring that you reach your flight on time.
