Need suggestions to plan the itinerary of my upcoming visit to the Andaman Islands. The plan is for a 7 days trip, so that we can cover the entire Andaman region, including the remote parts. We will be flying in to Port Blair and our return journey is also by air from Port Blair. So suggest the planned itinerary accordingly.

Besides visiting the popular tourist places in Andaman like Port Blair, Havelock Islands and Neil Islands, we would also like to visit the distant places like Diglipur and Mayabunder.

Spending some relaxing time by the beach side is a priority. Please let me know a few beautiful and pristine beaches in Andaman that are not thronged by too many tourists. We are also very much interested in underwater marine life, so do include your suggestion about the best places for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Please help me to make it a perfect Andaman itinerary, so that we can visit as many places as possible without tiring ourselves too much. Thanks a lot for your kind help.

Seven days may not be enough to explore Andaman Islands fully, especially the distant places like Mayabunder and Diglipur. You will end up running around from one place to another and may not be able to spend enough time to explore the places to your liking. You should ideally consider adding a couple more days to your trip plan, or skip a few places.

Anyway, here's a suggested 7-days Andaman itinerary which would cover most of the tourist places of interest in the Andaman region, including Diglipur and Mayabunder.

    Andaman Itinerary for 7 Days:
    • Day 1: Arrive in Port Blair and check into your hotel. Relax for a few hours and then go to the beautiful Corbyn's Cove beach in the evening. Attend the Light-&-Sound show at the historic Cellular Jail before heading back to your hotel room.
    • Day 2: Get up early in the morning and hire a taxi to take you to Diglipur. You can also opt for ferry services from Port Blair to Diglipur, but the road transport is a faster mode. Distance between Port Blair and Diglipur is around 290 KM and the journey can take around 7 hours by taxi. So you will be arriving at Diglipur in the afternoon. Check into your hotel room, have your lunch and take some rest. Spend some relaxing time at the beautiful Lamiya Bay beach before heading back to your hotel. You can get ferry service to the Lamiya Bay beach from the Aerial Bay jetty.

    • Day 3: Two other prominent beaches at Diglipur are the Ramnagar beach and Kalipur beach. Both these beaches are secluded and just the ideal place to unwind and bask under the glorious sunshine. So visit both these beaches in the morning. Another popular tourist activity at Diglipur is the trek to Saddle Peak, which is the highest point in Andaman. But you won't have enough time to cover this, so skip the trek.

Post lunch, hire a taxi to Mayabunder, which is around 80 KM from Diglipur via NH233. It should not take more than 2 hours to arrive at Mayabunder. Check into your hotel room to leave your luggage and then head to the lovely Karmatang Beach. The shallow waters here is ideal for swimming. Relax and rejuvenate yourself in this extremely scenic beach. Return to the hotel after capturing some spectacular shots of the setting sun.
    • Day 4: Hire a boat from the Mayabunder Jetty to go to Avis Islands. It is one of the most beautiful virgin island that you would ever come across. If you are interested in snorkelling, then you can try that out at the Avis Islands. In the evening, hire a taxi back to Port Blair. Night stay at your Port Blair hotel.
    • Day 5: Set out on a sea voyage to three of the most stunning islands in Andaman - Smith & Ross Island, North Bay Island and Viper Island. In the afternoon, hire a speedboat to visit the famed limestone caves at the Baratang Island.

    • Day 6: Head to Havelock Islands on a boat cruise. Radhanagar beach is a must visit place at Havelock. There's a water sports complex at this beach where you can indulge in loads of water sports activities. Another virgin beach here is the Elephant Beach, which is equally stunning. In the afternoon session, head to Neil Islands. Visit Laxmanpur beach, Sitapur beach and Bharatpur beach at Neil Islands. Spend some time relaxing on the sea shore and catch splendid views of sunset from here. Then return to Port Blair for the night halt.

    • Day 7: If your return flight is in the morning, then that's the conclusion of your Andaman trip. Otherwise (if your flight is in the evening and you are not too tired), you can probably visit Chidiya Tapu and Munda Pahar beach - which is just about one hour drive from Port Blair. Another option can be to spend some time at the Water Sports Complex in Port Blair before heading to the airport to board your return flight.

If you can't extend the trip duration, then I would suggest you to exclude Diglipur and visit the famed Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park at Port Blair. Jolly Buoy Island at Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park offers breathtaking riches of underwater marine life. You can probably take a ride on a glass-bottomed boat to catch the colorful coral reefs. It is also an excellent place for snorkeling and scuba diving.

This is the best Andaman itinerary I can come up with that caters to all your requirements. As I have mentioned previously, if you can extend the stay for 2 more days, then you will be able to spend the deserved amount of time at each of these wonderful places.
