Hi all my name is Promila, and I have a daughter who has a restricted diet, and she is allergic to most foods, it is because of this problem we are not able to go out of town for more than a day, yet we would love to. The only solution I see to this is finding a hotel which has a kitchenette so I can cook food according to her diet requirements.

We live in Delhi, so any holiday destination near Delhi is okay, we are not too fussed about the location as going somewhere for a vacation for more than a day would be the best thing for all of us especially her.

Places to consider are Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.

I would be surprised if a hotel refuses to accommodate the needs of your daughter and turns you away. Not all hotels have kitchenettes but at hill stations like Mussoorie and Shimla (which are driving distance from Delhi) have a lot of properties which also have kitchenettes attached. Most such properties are either cottages or huts. Just have to search harder I guess.

Yes, I don't think it is common for hotel rooms in India to have kitchenettes. You would have to arrange something with the hotel kitchen, if they have one. I think it might be better to rent a house. There are many available, and I believe Airbnb has got a fairly good list of locations throughout India at very good prices. I don't even think it is common for hotels to carry microwaves in India, although most can provide one on request.

What exactly is the allergy? Do cooking pots have to be sanitized? I know some people can't even stand the residue of peanut oil on cleaned cookware. This might require you bringing some of your own tools if it is a severe allergy.

If you try going online to look for hotels, they usually have their "selling points" written next to their available rooms. Usually they have it written perks like free WiFi, free breakfasts, if the hotel is near landmarks or tourist attractions, and even kitchenettes. It's very simple to look it up online, and you get to compare prices as well as locations with this method. Good luck!

If I have my son with me, I'd also look for lodgings with a kitchenette. I've been trying to cook healthy for him and he's a bit picky so I would need to make his favorites so I won't have to go looking for something that he wants. I'm very sure that ingredients can be found anywhere. I just need to be sure that my kid would actually eat something by whipping up Indian specials to suit his taste buds.
