I am going Goa in the third week of July, and I have just read the forum threads that water sports are not conducted during monsoon season. It was something which we all were looking forward to, and don't have much choice and can not even cancel our tickets.

I am sure there must be more that can be done in Goa other than water sports, so please mention the things to do in Goa in monsoon.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

There's lots more to see in Goa than just its beaches. There's definitely many things to do and explore other than just water sports. And especially during the monsoon season, some places in Goa are the perfect setting for exploring and visiting. Here's what you can visit and do in Goa in monsoon season:

    Sanctuaries:
    • Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. You can find this in the Ponda Region. There's lots of wild animals to see here like the Indian Bison, Malabar Giant Squirrel and Sambar Deer. It's also a haven for bird watchers as lots of bird species can be seen here. It is open during monsoon season as well everyday except Thursdays.
    • Molem Wildlife Sanctuary. Located in the Sanguem Region, this has lots of wildlife to be seen as well. The Black Panther and Bengal Tiger can easily be spotted while exploring the sanctuary.
    • Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary. Located in Canacona in South Goa. Perfect for nature and tree lovers as the whole area is covered by thick deciduous trees. Try to spot the Flying Lizard when you're here.
    • Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary. Located near Sattari Taluka, you can spot the Royal Bengal Tiger in here. The endangered Slender Loris is also here although very rare to spot.
    • Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. Located in the Sanguem Taluka of Eastern Goa, the very rare Malabar Tree Toad resides here.
    Waterfalls:
    • Dudhsagar Waterfalls. This is about 60 kms away from Panaji. It is located in the Molem Wildlife Sanctuary itself. During monsoon season, the rains fall through the Dudhsagar Waterfalls and forms huge pressure in the water. It's an amazing sight to be seen.
    Spice Plantations:
    • Pascoal Farms. Very near the Mandovi River, has an abundance of plants in its farms.
    • Abyss. Located near Savoi Verem, famous for their organic farming and medicinal herbs.
    • Sahakari Spice Farm. Located in Curti, learn about spices as well as their medicinal properties.
    Activities:
    • River Cruise in Mandovi River. Cruise the river at night and enjoy the views around you.
    • White Water Rafting in Mhadei River. The Mhadei River has Class 2 and 3 rapids, suitable for beginners, people who cannot swim and even children aged 12 and above.
    • White Water Rafting in Tilari River. This one's for relatively fit people who can swim. They have Class 3 and 4 rapids, so it can be a bit challenging.
    Others:
    • Fontainhas. Visit the Art Gallery, Velha Goa Galeria and the Chapel of Saint Sebastian.
I hope this helps! Enjoy Goa during the monsoon season, good luck!
