Hello, forum. I have joined this platform to find out about Tikuji Ni Wadi Water Park. It is a popular water park which I have heard people talk about. I would like to know more about it, so I know whether it is a suitable place to take my kids to and know what all is included in the park.

    2. What is the entry fee for the park?

    3. Are there food outlets in the park?

What is the Tikuji Ni Wadi?

Tikuji Ni Wadi is recognised as a fun resort, with an assortment of both water rides and dry rides. Established in 1981, this is one of the oldest theme parks in the Mumbai region. Its claim to fame? Well, aside from its enjoyable rides, the theme park offers plenty of chances for respite from the city pollution. It is nestled amidst lush greenery and every angle gives you a breathtaking view of natural beauty. Its recent addition of a stroll through the past with dinosaur statues is yet another factor that makes the theme park unique. Tikuji Ni Wadi is a name not unknown to many locals and even foreign tourists can have their fair share of thrills in this one-of-a-kind theme park meets nature getaway.

Where is Tikuji Ni Wadi Located?

Tikuji Ni Wadi is located near Kokanipada in Thane. It is about 27 kilometres away from the city centre of Mumbai. It is situated at the eastern outskirt of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. If coming from the city by car, you can take the Eastern Express Highway and then take a turn for the National Highway 48, before reaching the Tikuji Ni Wadi Road. You can instead take the Pokharan Road if you want to avoid the highway traffic. If you're taking the train, the nearest railhead is the Thane Railway Station, which is about 10 kilometres away from the theme park. From the Thane Railway Station, take the BEST Bus No. 56 that reaches the Tikuji Ni Wadi Bus Stop directly. If you're from Mulund or nearby areas, take the BEST Bus No. 110 which starts from the Mulund Railway Station and terminates at the Tikuji Ni Wadi Bus Stop.

How Does Tikuji Ni Wadi Differ From Other Theme Parks?

Located amidst the buffer area of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the Tikuji Ni Wadi boasts of unparalleled natural beauty. The sheer amount of trees and plants is sure to leave you spellbound. It's also not unusual to find some insects like caterpillars and butterflies within the premises of the theme park. The chirping of the birds accompany you as you wait for your turn in the rides, making the waiting time a bit bearable. Tikuji Ni Wadi has three main sections as well, namely, Amusement Park, Water Park and Dinosaur World. An uncommon occurrence as not all theme parks can provide for three levels of entertainment in just one place.

What are the Attractions in the Amusement Park?

The Amusement Park (Images from Malcolm)

The Amusement Park can be subdivided into two sections, which are, the Family Fun Zone and the Kid's Zone. If you're a thrill seeker, then the Family Fun Zone is the best section for you. The main star of this section is none other than the UFO Cycle, a 640-feet track suspended in the air. Interestingly, the rider has to manually manoeuvre the cycle by pedalling unto it, just like a bicycle. But since it is located 640-feet above ground, you can then enjoy the views of the surrounding forests while cycling. Also worth trying out is the Space Ship, which literally would turn your world upside down. It's not a ride for the faint-hearted as the space ship would take you for a 360-degree turn, several times.

What's an amusement park without a Dragon Ship? This ride would swing you back and forth, though on higher heights as expected. Usual rides like the Spin Coaster, Worm Coaster and Whirlwind Chairs are also available in this section. For those who aren't too brave for these thrilling rides, fret not, as the Family Fun Zone also has more laid-back rides. Slow round and round rides like the Giant Ferris Wheel, Crazy Cup, Animal Kingdom, Dragon Ride, Family Train and Luxury Carousel can be enjoyed by the whole family.

For the competitive friends, why not indulge in rides that can test your fighting spirit? You have the usual bumping car named as the Dashing Cars. Or if you want something more different, opt for the Bumper Boats. Even more challenging is the Go Karting, a 300-metre race track suitable for leisure competitions. And finally, test your knowledge in aquatic species by visiting the Tikus Aquarium, also located in the same section.

For the little ones, there's a dedicated section for them in the park, named as the Kid's Zone. The safer alternative to the Dragon Ship is the kiddie version, named as the Pirate Boat. Thrilling round and round rides like the Pirate Treasure Ship, Airforce Helicopter, Flying Castle, Dinosaur Rides, Frog Ride and Cartoon Characters Ride can be enjoyed by the little ones. Miniature versions of the ferris wheel, the Funny Bunny, and bumper cars, the Kid's Bumper Cars are also available.

A scenic ride through the jungles, why not? There's the Safari Adventure, where miniature jeeps can take the kids for a safe ride to the jungle. If your kids love cars or trains, then take them to the Climbing Car or Fairy Train, where they can take their pick of their preferred ride. Other enjoyable attractions here are the Duck Train, Kid's Bumper Boats and Play Station.

What are the Attractions in the Water Park?

The Water Park can be subdivided into several sections. The first section is the Water Slides, wherein guests can enjoy playing in the various open and tube slides available. The Family Pool is a small section perfect for a family. It has two slides, one is a narrow slide and the other is a wide slide. For those with children, this is an enjoyable section as the water is just shallow. The Kid's Pool has various sprinklers and canopied areas with falling water. The water is shallow too so that kids can be safe while frolicking in the water. Other sections like the Lazy River and Wave Pool are also available for the use of guests.

    What is the Dinosaur World?

The Dinosaur World is a paid attraction in the Tikuji Ni Wadi. It features life-size mechanical dinosaurs, with various species on display like the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus, Spinosaurus and many more. There are also static statues of some dinosaur species along with some information about their size, their place of origin and what era they lived in. The Dinosaur World is just a recent addition to the theme park and is a big hit with the children. Even adults can learn a thing or two from the informational boards around. Parents can accompany their children to make this area even more interesting as the information is supposed to be read and there are no guides around.

What are the Food Outlets in the Tikuji Ni Wadi?

For your dining options, you have several located within the theme park. You cannot bring outside food inside the theme park so buying from the restaurants here is your only option. First is the Tree Top Restaurant, which is located within the Amusement Park section. The dining areas for this restaurant are located in machans, or elevated platforms, much like tree houses. While eating, you can enjoy the views of the lush greenery and you might even be able to spot a wildlife or two. The cuisine served here is mainly Indian and the dishes are mainly vegetarian. During Sundays and public holidays, there's a set wide buffet spread in this restaurant as well.

The second restaurant is named the Blue Lagoon Cafe, which is located within the Water Park section. This restaurant is known for its Indian cuisine, especially its delectable Gujarati Thali. This thali won't cost more than Rs. 300 per person which is truly value for money. Other dishes worth trying out here are their Pav Bhaji and Masala Dosa. Taste-wise, the meals are quite good and can satisfy the tummy. The ambience is simpler as compared to the previous restaurant though.

There are also various food stalls located within the theme park. Snacks like Cotton Candy, Ice Cream, Chips and more can be found in such food stalls. Prices are on the expensive side though so do allot some budget for food. There are also stalls for beverages like Pepsi, Coke, Nimbu Paani and more.
