Train from Delhi to Jammu

I have joined this forum to find out what options I have for getting a train from Delhi to Jammu. I am only interested in finding out about AC first class seats.

What train service is best from Delhi to Jammu and also the cost of the ticket.

The distance between Delhi and Jammu is about 588 kilometres. Driving this distance can take around 9 to 10 hours, depending on the route taken. With public transportation, such as trains or buses, they are prone to delays so the journey duration would be a bit longer, from 10 to 11 hours. Fortunately, there are direct trains from Delhi to Jammu and some has your required 1AC or First Class AC seats. These seats are priced a bit higher than the other seats and they are not available in all trains so it's important to know which ones have them.

Trains with First Class AC Seats from Delhi to Jammu

Trains to Jammu Tawi Railway Station from Delhi originate from several railway stations, like the New Delhi Railway Station and the Old Delhi Junction. Journey duration also differs for the different trains as well as the fare.

Your best train option is the New Delhi Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express Train No. 12425 which departs from the New Delhi Railway Station. Its journey duration is just 9 hours and 5 minutes. It only has just three stopovers along the way which is very minimal as you compare to the other trains. It also doesn't have any average delays so the chances of having any delays or postponements are low. It also has schedules everyday so you can easily fit your journey into Jammu easily and fare is at Rs. 2,640 per passenger for the 1AC seating.

Another good train is the Shri Shakti AC Express Train No. 22461 which also departs from the New Delhi Railway Station. Its journey duration is just 9 hours and 30 minutes. Its average delay is just three minutes and it also has just four stopovers along the way. This delay is acceptable especially as you compare it to the delays of the other trains. It has daily schedules too and fare is at Rs. 2,195 per passenger for the 1AC seating.

Both the Delhi Sarai Rohilla Jammu Tawi Duronto Express Train No. 12265 and the Delhi Sarai Rohilla Udhampur AC Express Train No. 22401 are also good options. They depart from the Delhi Sarai Rohilla Railway Station. They don't have daily schedules though, only a few times a week. Their average delay though is a bit higher at 10 minutes to 36 minutes. Fares are around Rs. 2,490 per passenger for the 1AC seating.

Conclusion

You have lots of options for trains with 1AC seats from Delhi to Jammu. If you don't mind spending a bit more, the New Delhi Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express Train No. 12425 has minimum halts and also has the quickest journey duration. You can save a bit more money with the Shri Shakti AC Express Train No. 22461 though and its journey duration isn't that long as well.
