My flight to Bangalore is from Delhi in the evening. I will be traveling from Haryana and will be arriving in Delhi before either a day before or on the same day in the morning. To avoid the city traffic, I would like to get the Metro to get to the airport, and I would like to know how to reach terminal 1d Delhi airport by metro? When arriving in Delhi a day before I would be staying somewhere near Connaught Place and if I arrive on the same day I will get the metro from the bypass.
Hello, @Rakhiya, welcome to the forum! (Images from Simbu, Akash, VM and Kprateek) Overview The Delhi Airport Metro Express is a world-class rapid transit that links the Indira Gandhi International Airport to the centre of Delhi. It is also designated as the Orange Line, a part of the Delhi Metro, which begins at the IGI Airport Metro Station and terminates at the New Delhi Metro Station. It is also connected to the Dwarka Sector 21 Metro Station. Going to the main metro station of the airport, the IGI Airport Metro Station, it is located just around 650 metres away from the Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. This main station is about eight kilometres away from the Terminal 1D of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Your next best option is to reach the Delhi Aerocity Metro Station instead, which is around six kilometres away from the Terminal 1D of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Delhi Airport Metro Express In total, the Delhi Airport Metro Express has six stations. The table below showcases these various stations along with their connection/s, layout and distance from the Terminal 1D of Indira Gandhi International Airport. As you can see from the table, the Delhi Aerocity Metro Station is the closest to this terminal, the Terminal 1D (Domestic Flights) of the IGI Airport, at just around six kilometres away. The Delhi Aerocity Metro Station is the succeeding station after the IGI Airport Metro Station, which continues to the northern or central part of the city. So the conclusion for travellers is that for those who need to reach Terminal 3, alight at the IGI Airport Metro Station and for those who need to reach Terminal 1, alight at the Delhi Aerocity Metro Station. ↛ Delhi Airport Metro Express Stations and Distance from Terminal 1D ↚ Metro Station NameConnection/sLayoutDistance from Terminal 1D of IGI AirportDwarka Sector 21 Metro StationBlue LineUnderground13 KilometresIGI Airport Metro StationTerminal 3 of IGI AirportUnderground8 KilometresDelhi Aerocity Metro StationNoneUnderground6 KilometresDhaula Kuan Metro StationNoneElevated9 KilometresShivaji Stadium Metro StationNoneUnderground13 KilometresNew Delhi Metro StationYellow Line & New Delhi Railway StationUnderground17 KilometresThe Nearest Metro Stations to Connaught Place There are also six metro stations that are closest to the Connaught Place, where you would be staying in Delhi. Now we would figure out which would be your best metro station option when staying in Connaught Place. From the table below, you would see that the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station is the closest to the centre of Connaught Place, just 200 metres away or just a few minutes of walking away. The downside is that this station is not directly connected to the Delhi Airport Metro Express.
