Hi there We plan to stay in an ashram for a week or so in Kerala, I would like to know what would be the reasonable donation for the same. I know it is a bit weird question but we are unable to decide the right amount or is it OK if we ask someone in ashram about how much and they can help us better? Thanks
That's a bit of a difficult question really. I don't know of any ashrams that would let you stay for free so if they are charging you then the expenses are already covered so may be a one or two thousand rupees as donation may be? I don't know. I would try and sneak out without paying anything
If you ask the Ashram then the most likely answer is going to be to renounce materialism and sell all your property and donate the money to the Ashram Be realistic and do not go over the top. I believe a couple of thousand rupees should be enough.
