I will be in Mumbai (some of you reading my other post must know) and my arrival will be at the Mumbai airport.

I need to get a train to Bandra and would like to know which is the nearest railway station to Mumbai Airport?

Please give some guidance to how I can get to the railway station?

Hello, @Saba! Welcome to the forum.

The Mumbai Airport is also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. It has two main sections: the Domestic Terminal or Terminal 1 known as the Santa Cruz Airport and the International Terminal or Terminal 2 known as the Sahar Airport. These two airports were fused into one, hence the Mumbai Airport was known. However, these two airports are about five kms apart from each other so you need to know from which airport your are arriving to.

It depends on which part of the airport you're arriving to:

    1. Domestic Terminal or Terminal 1 or Santa Cruz Airport - The nearest railway station to this airport is the Vile Parle Railway Station. It is about 2.1 kms away from the airport and you can reach it within 20 minutes or so, depending on the traffic for that day. Here are other railway stations and their distance to the Domestic Terminal in the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport:
    • Asalpha Railway Station - This is about 8.3 kms from the Domestic Airport.
    • Sakinaka Metro Station - This is about 11.9 kms from the Domestic Airport.
    • Marol Naka Station - This is about 6.4 kms from the Domestic Airport.
    • Airport Road Metro Station - This is about 6.2 kms from the Domestic Airport.
    2. International Terminal or Terminal 2 or Sahar Airport - The nearest railway station to this airport is the Andheri East Railway Station. It is about 6 kms from the airport and you can reach it within 30 minutes or less, depending again on the traffic. Here are other railway stations and their distance to the International Terminal in the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport:
    • Santa Cruz Railway Station - This is about 6.1 kms from the International Airport.
    • Khar Road Railway Station - This is about 7.5 kms from the International Airport.
    • Karla Junction Railway Station - This is about 13 kms from the International Airport.
To reach the railway stations, you have these options:

    1. By Bus - Several buses operated by BEST ply from the airport to the railway stations. For the Domestic Terminal to Vile Parle Railway Station, board the BEST Bus No. 312. Other buses also stop at Vile Parle Railway Station, namely:
    • Bus No. 2, Bus No. 35, Bus No. 39, Bus No. 321, Bus No. 322, Bus No. 330, Bus No. 374 and Bus No. 384.
Here are the departure from origin times of the Bus No. 312:
    • 04:50, 05:08, 05:26, 05:43, 06:00, 06:17, 06:34, 06:51, 07:08, 07:25, 07:44, 08:03, 08:22, 08:41, 09:00, 09:10, 09:21, 09:42, 10:03, 10:24, 10:45, 11:06, 11:27, 11:48, 12:09, 12:30, 12:51, 13:12, 13:33, 13:54, 14:15, 14:36, 14:57, 15:18, 15:39, 15:50, 16:00, 16:21, 16:42, 17:04, 17:26, 17:48, 18:10, 18:32, 18:54, 19:16, 19:38, 20:00, 20:22, 20:45, 21:10, 21:35, 22:00, 22:25 and 22:50.
For the International Terminal to Andheri East Railway Station, board the BEST Bus No. 308. Other buses also stop at Andheri East Railway Station, namely:
    • Bus No. 321 and Bus No. 337.
Here are the departure from origin times of the Bus No. 308:
    • 05:10, 05:40, 06:40, 07:10, 07:35, 07:55, 08:12, 08:29, 09:04, 09:26, 09:48, 10:10, 10:33, 10:55, 11:23, 11:52, 12:21, 12:49, 13:18, 13:46, 14:15, 14:43, 15:09, 15:50, 16:15, 16:41, 17:06, 17:32, 17:58, 18:23, 18:49, 19:14, 19:40, 20:05, 20:30, 20:55, 21:20, 21:45 and 22:10.
    2. By Taxi - You can also ride a taxi to reach the railway stations. The airport has both normal metered taxis and prepaid taxis. The counter to buy the ticket for prepaid taxis is located just as you exit customs from the airport. You would just pay to the counter and receive your ticket and the guard will guide you to the taxi you have to ride.

    3. By Auto - Since these railway stations are just a few kilometres away from the airports, you can also ride an auto to reach them. It's also the better alternative if you're crunched for time.

    4. By Walking - You can also reach these stations by foot since they're nearby the airports anyway. This is also your best option if you arrive in Mumbai during rush hour when traffic is bad.

    I hope this helps.:)

The Bandra Terminus station is quite close to the airport itself. A direct cab would be preferred mode of transport as trains would involve changing quite a bit. The cab fare would not exceed Rs100 under worst traffic scenarios.
