Bangalore Airport to railway station

I am landing at Bangalore airport and then need to get to the Bangalore City Junction Railway station to catch the Duronto Express train. As I don't want to be late to get my train, I want o make sure that I know how far the railway station is from the airport and some other details which are mentioned below.

1. What is the distance between the Bangalore Airport to the railway station?

2. How long would it take to reach the Bangalore City Junction station from the airport in the morning/afternoon hours?

3. Can I easily get a taxi from the airport?

How to Reach Bangalore City Junction Railway Station from Bangalore International Airport

The distance between the Bangalore International Airport, also known as Kempegowda International Airport, and the Bangalore City Junction Railway Station is about 36 kilometres. Driving this distance can take around an hour or less. Considering the morning rush hours, it can take more but if you're reaching the city during off-peak hours, you can reach the station in about 50 minutes. You have two transportation options to reach the railway station from the airport, either by bus or by taxi:

1. By Bus - There are buses operated by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) plying from the airport to Mekhri Circle. These buses are very convenient, especially from travellers reaching the airport who need to reach the other areas in Bangalore. But for you, you need to board a bus that will stop over at Mekhri Circle, which is merely 6.7 kilometres away from the Bangalore City Junction Railway Station. As you can see, there are plenty of buses plying this route. Fare is around Rs. 190 plus toll fee of Rs. 10, so a total of Rs. 200 per passenger. These buses depart from the Arrival Hall of the Passenger Terminal Building of the airport. From the Mekhri Circle, you can just ride an auto or a taxi to take you to the Bangalore City Junction Railway Station.

2. By Taxi - You can also just ride a taxi from the Bangalore International Airport to the Bangalore City Junction. There are prepaid taxi counters located in front of the Terminal Building of the airport. There are three main taxi operators which are Mega Cabs, Meru Cabs and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation. Here are the different taxi rates from the airport to the railway station:

Keep in mind that if you're arriving during off-peak hours, from 12:00 am to 6:00 am, there is an additional 10% fee for the fare. You can also opt for a regular taxi service which are abundant just outside the airport. However, rates for these taxis are negotiable and you might not get an accurate fare at all. Or you can opt for taxi services such as Uber and Ola, which you have to book once you arrive in the airport through their app.
