I would like to know where in Chennai I can find a restaurant which has a non-veg buffet option. I as well as my parents are fond of non-veg food, and we want to go out for together for a non-veg buffet dinner in Chennai and would also like to know the price of the buffet.

    Overview

Just this 2015, Chennai has made it into the Top Ten Food Cities of The National Geographic. Chennai ranked as the second on the list, after Louisville in Kentucky. The reason why Chennai has made it into the list? It's because the famous Chicken 65 originated from the city. When it comes to the cuisine in Chennai though, it is very varied. If you want to sample only South Indian dishes, there are many restaurants around Chennai that can give you an authentic experience of that. But if you want to taste international and other regional cuisines, there's a variety of restaurants in the city that can also cater to your foodie needs. And when it comes to buffets, you have lots of options in the city too. Buffets are best for people who want to try not just one dish, but a lot of them, it can give you a great overview of what the South Indian cuisine is all about.

Best Non-Vegetarian Buffet Restaurants in Chennai (With Prices)

    1. Absolute Barbecues (T. Nagar) - Absolute Barbecues has two branches in Chennai, one in T. Nagar and another in Velachery. Out of these two branches, the one in T. Nagar is rated slightly higher although the two restaurants offer the same kind of service and cuisines. The dishes offered here are that of North Indian, European and Mediterranean. Ambience is very pleasant with cushioned seats, wooden furnitures and of course, a wide buffet spread. Absolute Barbecues might just be Chennai's most popular buffet restaurant, primarily because they cater to both the vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The spread is well-thought off too, from the starters, up to the customised grilled meal, to the main course and the desserts. The starters section has a wide variety of meats like chickens, rabbits and quails. The customised grill meal is also known as the Wish Grill, where you can mix and match meats, rice or noodles plus a sauce of your preference as well. By the time you get to the main course, your tummy might already be begging you to stop but you just can't and must try dishes here are the chicken biryani and dal makhni. Of course, what's a buffet without desserts? The crowd favourite in the dessert section is their ice cream, which is of the cold stone variety and you can add as much sprinkles that you'd like. Make sure that you reach the restaurant early or even book a table in advance as this place is always crowded.

The decors are very refreshing, with the use of bricked elements in the walls along with the quirky quotes framed against them. Aside from that, seating areas are not cramped at all and you can spend precious time chatting with your friends or loved ones without being sneaked upon by others. Just like the former buffet restaurant, you also have the same setup, starters, a customised grilled meal, main course and desserts. The cuisines are almost the same, North Indian and Mediterranean, with a mixture of Asian and Arabian dishes. For the starters, the best non-vegetarian ones are their prawns, kebabs and chicken. The restaurant also changes the Chef's Special starter every week so there's something new to look forward to each time you go here. 3. Sigree (Anna Nagar) - Sigree seems to be hidden under the radar of most buffet lovers, probably because newer restaurants always come up within the city. Sigree though is a household name already and as such, one of your best options for dining as they always serve authentic North Indian and Mughlai cuisines. The ambience here is very simple with just wooden tables and chairs, along with whitewashed walls. It's not unusual to find families enjoying a quiet time here as well. Their buffet is only for lunch though so make sure you reach them from 12:00 until 15:30 in the afternoon. The restaurant has the usual starters, main courses and desserts when it comes to their buffet spread. There are many varieties of kebabs that you can try but don't miss the malmali sheek kabab, it's incredibly soft, tasty and aromatic. For the main course, again, there are many options but the prawns masala stands out the most. And finally, desserts are quite hard to choose from, but the pastries and gulab jamun are all quite delicious.

Of course it's a given that the menu is also that of the European and Italian cuisine. Can you imagine having a buffet in this quaint restaurant early in the morning? Peaceful, serene, the perfect place to unwind, open a book or just enjoy some solitary time away from the hustle of the city. 5. Salt (Vadapalani) - At first glance, Salt would entice the foodie easily. With its mixture of the traditional South Indian style of design and modernity, well-balanced that is, it begs to be noticed. The bricked walls lined with framed photographs, the wooden tables partnered with the woven chairs and the bright interiors lined with other modern decors are sure to take your attention. Cuisines served here are that of the North Indian and South Indian regions of the country. Buffet though is served only during Thursdays and Fridays, from 12:00 to 15:30. The buffet is not that extensive but has a good selection of starters, main courses and desserts. The good thing about their buffet is that you can enjoy every dish because you're not confused with choices. Their kebabs, fishes and chicken lollipops in the starter spread all tastes good. 8. The Colony at The Rain Tree (Alwarpet) - Aptly named The Colony, because of its colonial era design, this restaurant is located in The Rain Tree Hotel in Alwarpet.
