I will be traveling to Goa in the month of May and have been looking at some hotels and resort which I am considering is the Rahi Coral Beach Resort. It seems like a good resort which provides good services and facilities. However, I would like to know more about the hotel so that I don't face any issues when I stay there.

    1. There is a pool at the hotel, and I would like to know what size the pool is?

    2. What time is the bar open until in the hotel?

    3. How far is the hotel from the beach?

    4. How far is the hotel from the main market?

    5. Are all the hotel appliances in working and good condition (bad experience with AC and TV in another hotel)?

    6. With the budget of around Rs2500 do you can I find a better hotel?

    Hello, welcome to the forum!

    Overview (Background)

The Rahi Coral Beach Resort is a two-star property located in the bustling area of Calangute. From the Calangute Beach, the resort is merely five minutes of walking away. The resort is also just 1.4 kilometres away from the Tibetan Market of Calangute and Baga. It is a bit further away from the famous markets of Goa though, like the Anjuna Flea Market, which is around eight kilometres away, and the Arpora Saturday Night Market, which is around five kilometres away. Because of its prime location, the Rahi Coral Beach Resort has been attracting lots of tourists into the property, both local and foreign ones. Additionally, the budget-friendly room rates is a bonus feature that the resort offers to guests.

    The Vibe (Theme)

The Rahi Coral Beach Resort features a creamy facade, reminiscent of the traditional Portuguese architecture. The balconies and windows provide one with that Portuguese-era vibe. Onto the interiors, the lobby area is more simple, with just a basic reception area to cater to the needs of guests. The rooms also have minimal designs, sometimes sporting a pure white interior or sometimes a bolder colour. All rooms also feature a private balcony where you can enjoy a view of the outdoor swimming pool of the hotel. The restaurant has nipa-style chairs with wooden tables, enhancing the beach-vibe of the area. Finally, the outdoor swimming pool is set amidst lush greenery, with some sun lounges for the guests to laze on.

    The Main Stars (Rooms)

The Rahi Coral Beach Resort only has two types of rooms, namely: the Deluxe Room and the Superior Room. Both rooms feature the same kind of amenities, except that the latter has an additional feature, that is, a bath tub in the bathroom.

    The Stars of the Resort

    Room TypeAmenitiesOccupancyRate
Deluxe RoomAir-Conditioning, Balcony, Mini-Bar, Closet, Cable Television and Private BathroomDoubleRs. 3,000/Night
Superior RoomAir-Conditioning, Balcony, Mini-Bar, Closet, Cable Television and Private Bathroom (With Bath Tub)DoubleRs. 4,800/Night
The table above highlights the different types of rooms in the property. As you can see, amenities are almost the same, except for the bath tub that only the Superior Room has.

    1. Deluxe Room - The Deluxe Room costs around Rs. 3,000 per night. However, if you book a room through an affiliated booking site, the rate might be slightly lower, averaging around Rs. 2,100 to Rs. 2,500 per night. The Deluxe Room is the cheapest option but is also the most basic. It has the same amenities as the other room, air-conditioning, television, closet, balcony and of course, an attached bathroom. This type of room has ample space, but mattresses might not be as thick, as compared to mid-range or higher end hotels. Previously, there has been issues about the availability of hot water in the bathroom as well, but you can request for it downstairs, if ever your shower isn't working. Most of the time, air-conditioning and television work so these might not be an issue during your stay.

    2. Superior Room - The Superior Room costs around Rs. 4,800 per night. But just like the previous room, if you book through an affiliated booking site, the rate might be slightly lower, averaging around Rs. 3,360 to Rs. 3,500 per night. Of the two room types, the Superior Room is more luxurious, more spacious and features a bath tub in the bathroom. All the other amenities are just the same, air-conditioning, television, closet and balcony. The issues of the availability of hot water, some complaints about bed bugs, are the main problems with this room. For the other issues, working air-conditioning and television, complaints about them are usually very few.

    The Foodie's Galore (Dining Options)

The resort has an in-house restaurant cum bar, which has a multi-cuisine facility. This is also the same restaurant that prepares the complimentary breakfast of the guests. However, the restaurant doesn't operate on an all-day basis, usually it only serves a buffet breakfast, sometimes a buffet dinner. You can request for other meals but there is no guarantee that the restaurant can provide them. The bar though, operates from early night time until late night time. There are a few drinks, alcoholic mostly, available in the bar.

    Alternative Restaurants Near the Resort

Since the resort is located on a busy area, there are plenty of dining options just outside of it, within walking distance. Given above are these alternative dining options, from which you can also order your meals from and have them delivered to your room in the Rahi Coral Beach Resort. You can walk to reach any of these restaurants as well, since they are just a few metres or a kilometre away from the resort. Further, you are bound to find more restaurants around the Baga area, as you walk further.

The Other Characters (Facilities and Services)

As mentioned above, the resort has an outdoor swimming pool, but it is just an average-sized one. It can accommodate a group or at the maximum, two groups or two families. It is well maintained though, cleaned regularly and sanitised with chlorine. There are sun lounges around so that the guests can enjoy sun bathing as well. The bar is located close to the pool, so that it acts like a poolside bar as well. Around the swimming pool area, you would find lush greenery and walk a bit further, then you'll find a small garden where you can relax in.

Internet is available, free of charge, for all staying guests, in all areas of the hotel. Lockers are also available, in case guests have some important or valuable things that they need to be kept for safekeeping. Other important facilities like power backup, currency exchange, travel desk, car rental and bicycle rental are also available in the resort. Services like laundry, housekeeping, room service, dry cleaning, shuttle services and ironing can also be availed of in the resort.

Facilities that are lacking in the resort are elevator or lift facilities, which means it's best to obtain a room on the lower floors, especially if you have lots of luggages with you. Parking is also not available in the property itself, though they can arrange for parking in a nearby area, for a surcharge. Finally, the restaurant doesn't operate all day so that might be another downside for the guests who want convenience when it comes to the in-house food.

    Conclusion (Verdict)

The Rahi Coral Beach Resort is a budget resort located in the Calangute area of Goa. It offers the basic facilities and amenities to guests and is also located at a prime area, within walking distance to the beach and busy market areas. If you are alone, a bachelor maybe, intending for a short trip to Goa and you can be comfortable with just a basic accommodation, then the Rahi Coral Beach Resort is a good option. Most especially if you're planning to just stay in the resort for a few hours in a day, just for sleeping and intend to do sightseeing or partying most of the time. However, for families, there are other options in the Calangute and Baga area for you. You can check this thread and find out other budget accommodation options, all within Rs. 2,500 per night. These hotels were highly rated for cleanliness and hygiene so your family can enjoy a simple but comfortable stay.

    I hope this helps you!:)
