I have decided to take my sister on a surprise holiday to Goa. For the past couple of days, I have been looking at the Whispering Palms Beach Resort in Goa.
I want the resort to be relaxing for her, and from the pictures, it looks like an ideal resort to stay at, but I would like to know more.

    1. I would like to know how far it is from the beach and shops?

    2. Is it worth having meals at the hotel like breakfast and dinner? What kind of food do they serve?

    3. Does the resort have its own gym and what time can we use the pool in the mornings?

    4. What is the hotel atmosphere like?

    The Background

The Whispering Palms Beach Resort is a four-star property located in the Candolim area of Goa. The resort started out as a small three-star property and has since then been developed as more of a luxury property. The resort is set upon a vast expanse of land, the property surrounding a central outdoor swimming pool. It exudes an old-world charm but still able to excite the youngsters with the wide variety of facilities and amenities available in the property. What sets the resort apart from other properties is the level of hospitality and warmth that they offer to guests. You would truly feel welcomed here, every request, every need, catered to by the lovely staff. All these and more make the Whispering Palms Beach Resort a prime choice of tourists when in Goa.

    The Location

The resort is just 500 metres away from the Candolim Beach or about 5 minutes of walking away. You can also visit the nearby Sinquerim Beach, which is under two kilometres away from the resort. The closest supermarkets to the resort are Tinto Market and Newton's Supermarket. The resort is a bit further away from the famous street markets of Goa, like the Tibetan Market, Anjuna Flea Market and Saturday Night Market, around 10 to 12 kilometres away. But you can easily ride an auto rickshaw to reach any of these markets. When it comes to dining options, you're spoiled for choices as various restaurants, bars and cafes are within walking distance from the property. The Aguada Fort is also under five kilometres away from the resort.

    The Vibe

The resort, as mentioned above, is set upon a vast central swimming pool. The reception is a very simple one, with just a basic lobby area where guests can inquire about the property in. The rooms are spread out in two-level cottage style setups, with a terrace facing the swimming pool. From the outside, the facade varies, some cottages have creamy white motifs, while others have a reddish brown motif. The rooms are tastefully and uniquely designed as well. They are surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, having a view of the swimming pool. The architectural style of the rooms is traditional but with a touch of modernity. Certain decors like the wall painting and vases with flowers add some femininity to the rooms. There is also a private balcony that has some chairs where guests can spend some relaxing time in.

    The Rooms

You can choose between three types of rooms, namely: Standard Balcony Room, Terrace Room and Studio Suite Room. All these rooms are spacious and exude an old-world charm. There are some differences about them though, including the views and the amenities within each room.

It features a private balcony, featuring a view of one of the following: the pool, the garden or the Arabian sea. It also has a small work desk area, just adjacent to the television. The mid-range room is the Terrace Room, which is approximately 280 feet squared in size. It also has a private balcony, larger in size than the former room, but features the same views. Amenities in rooms are generally the same, regardless of the category. Air conditioning is present so even at the peak of summer, guests would feel very comfortable. There is also a flat-screen television with satellite channels. The work desk is located just adjacent to the television, along with a chair. The Studio Suite Room has a separate couch area where guests can lounge around while watching television or sipping a cup of coffee. The balconies also have sitting areas for guests. Other amenities like a mini bar, electronic safe and direct dial phone are also available. The bathrooms have a vessel sink and shower as well.

    The Restaurants

You can choose from four different restaurants in the property, namely: Breeze, Club 27, Lanai and Aahata. Each of these restaurants serve different cuisines, so you can have varied meals all throughout your stay.

These are the four restaurants located within the resort premises. Breeze is their all-day dining restaurant, located close to the swimming pool area so you can enjoy the view of the clear blue water. Most of the dishes served here are Indian, but there are a few Continental, Mediterranean and Chinese dishes as well. The restaurant also serves a buffet breakfast and dinner, but you can also opt for ala carte meals. The meals served here are regarded as the best, as compared to the other restaurants. You can try out their Goan Pork Vindaloo, which is this fiery but tangy dish. The flavours come out because of the balance of spices used in the dish. Even their Rogan Josh and Butter Chicken are quite delicious.

On the other hand, the three restaurants are also good options. Club 27 is more of a lounge bar with some alcohol-based beverages. Lanai is their Continental and Italian poolside bar. This is also the venue for certain events that the resort holds for guests like live musical performances and such. For seafood dishes, this restaurant can rival that of any beach shack in Goa. The last one is Aahata, which serves mainly Indian specialty dishes. It is located in an open-air area with thatched seats that make the dining experience even more authentic.
