I have come across the Holiday Village Resort which looks like a good place where I can be with my family.

The main aim for my holiday is to spend some time with my family, so I would like the resort to be at a calm place, have the regular services and facilities like gym, pool and a good restaurant.

The property looks quite big from the pictures but there is no such idea of exactly how big it is. I would also like to know what the size of the swimming pool and gym is.

As we are a family who likes being outdoors, we would like to have some of our meals outside, is this possible at the Holiday Village Resort?

What is the Holiday Village Resort?

The Holiday Village Resort is a three-star property within the city of Bangalore. It is a favoured getaway destination from locals of the city who doesn't have much time to venture to far away places. With tons of fun activities in offer, you can have your adventure side satisfied here. For those seeking some respite from the concrete jungles of the city, the resort has teeming greenery at every corner, making you feel as if you're transported in a rural area even. The Holiday Village Resort takes you to the simpler side of life. This is not a luxury property but more of a natural resort, where you can enjoy the solace, even for just a short time. It's a place to unwind, to relax or maybe spend some time bonding with your friends or loved ones.

Where is the Holiday Village Resort Located?

The Holiday Village Resort is located in Vajarahalli in the southwestern part of Bangalore. Specifically, it is located in the Kanakapura Road, under four kilometres away from the Turahalli Forest. If you're bringing your own vehicle, take the Lal Bagh Main Road, then the 4th Main Road, into the Marenahalli Road, until the Kanakpura Road proper and you would reach the Holiday Village Road where you can find the resort in. For those going via train, the nearest railhead is the Kengeri Railway Station, which is 13 kilometres away from the property. The nearest bus stop is the Thalagattapura Bus Stop, under two kilometres from the resort. There are many local buses from the city centre to this bus stop so you can easily reach the resort via this transportation means.

What is the Overall Vibe of the Holiday Village Resort?

The property is set upon shades of trees and landscaped lawns. There's a central swimming pool which is surrounded by lush greenery. Hidden under these gardens are the rooms and cottages, oozing of charm and coziness. Their interiors are very homely, with tiled flooring, neutral hues and wooden furnitures. The traditional village setting makes one feel out of the city yet the modern facilities and amenities would still make one in touch with the present. With facilities for indoor games and outdoor games, one can have an adventurous time in the property. Or if you'd rather spend an idyllic time in the laps of nature, the resort can also serve as a venue for that. Overall, the Holiday Village Resort exudes a hamlet-like vibe, where you can be lost in the sounds of nature, away from the clamour of the city.

You have a variety of options for accommodation in the property. These are the following: Executive Room, Club Room, Premier Suite and Family Cottage. All rooms exude the same ambience, minimalist interiors with a homely appeal. Flooring is either tiled or wooden, walls are white washed while there are patterned curtains and carpets that provide some vibrancy to the interiors. All rooms, suites and cottages have a sit-out area where you can enjoy the views of the pool or garden.

The resort has only one restaurant, the Baisakhi. This is a casual dining restaurant serving North Indian cuisine dishes to guests. There are also a few Chinese dishes in the menu. The ambience is simple, amidst an open area with wooden tables and chairs. You can view the swimming pool as well from the dining area, giving that outdoor dining vibe. There are also private dining areas within the lawns, close to the pool, where you can opt to have your meals in. The menu extensive with options for soups, platters, starters, kababs, breads and rice dishes. A must try dish here is their Chicken Satay, a grilled dish that serves well to start your palate for heavier meals. Their Dal Makhani is also worth trying out, a creamy dish that goes well with Naan or Roti. For desserts, try their Gulab Jamun and Jalebi.

Restaurants are a bit further from the resort, in case you'd be looking for alternatives. The Swadeshi's Family Restaurant is under three kilometres away from the resort. This is a dhaba style restaurant which serves North Indian, South Indian and Chinese cuisines dishes. Flavour of Shanghai is located to the north of the property, about three kilometres away. This is yet another simple restaurant with an oriental vibe serving mainly Chinese dishes. There are more restaurants within 10 kilometres of the property like Moksha, Melting Pot and Inchara.

What are the Facilities in the Holiday Village Resort?

There is an average-sized outdoor swimming pool set amidst the lush gardens. There's a canopied swing that is located close to the pool area. However, sun loungers and parasols are missing on the poolside. There's an outdoor games centre with facilities for volleyball, cricket and badminton. There's an on-site UV paintball arena, the first of its kind in the city. This is a chargeable facility, usually on a per game basis. There is also an indoor games centre with facilities for chess, carom, foosball and board games. For special events, the resort has various areas for that including the lawns and poolside area. Indoor conference halls and a board room are also available in the property. There's a discotheque which can also be rented for special occasions. Other facilities such as a travel desk, car rental and parking are available as well. Internet is available in public areas and the pool-facing rooms though signal isn't really that strong. Facilities that are missing are a spa and fitness centre.

    What is the Verdict?

The Holiday Village Resort is a haven of peace just on the southern part of Bangalore. Its proximity to the city centre makes it an ideal weekend getaway for families or friends. It is in fact a popular destination for corporate groups as well for seminars or team buildings. It takes the guests to a simpler journey closer to nature and closer to serenity. It is a modest resort that truly serves its purpose of providing for a different view of the city without having to venture away from the city. The best part is, you won't need to spend much money for that much needed getaway when you choose the Holiday Village Resort.

Good luck and I hope this helps you!:)
